Sunday Breakdown 4.26.09

Where do I begin? Yesterday was a blur in so many ways. It is still kind of surreal that we’ll no longer be meeting at the theater. In some ways, I was actually kind of sad yesterday, but ultimately, it’s going to be a nice change! I’m really looking forward to the month of May. For those of you who don’t know, we’ll be meeting at the XL Building in Armuchee for the month of May. I had the opportunity to go over on Friday and get acquainted with the building and the sound, video, and lighting systems and believe me, we’re gonna have fun out there!

So, back to yesterday…Setup was tough! Several key people were late (overslept, sick, power outages, etc.) and so we were kind of behind the gun when it came to time. We were literally putting up the final stage design pieces as people began to come in. But, the best part…we got it done. Musically, we had a great morning. We introduced a new song, “Kingdom”, and it went very well (The students knew this song from the Live Love conference they went to and they absolutely LOVE it, so it was fun having them sing along so loud!).

So, here’s the set…

Drifter (DecembeRadio) – Still one of my favorite songs. The “Southern Rock” feel always seems to go over well with Life Church! I missed having Matt on the 2nd electric, trading solos with BJ!

Kingdom (Kristian Stanfill) – This was a new song for us. Kingdom is on Kristian’s new album, Attention. GREAT album with some GREAT songs on there! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the first verse of this song, “to live love and give love/to those who don’t know of/the lavish and true love of God”, if that’s not what Life Church is all about, I don’t know what is!

Song of Hope (Robbie Seay Band) – Trying not to use the word “favorite”. Man, I love this song. It was so awesome to be singing such great songs of faith and hope in light of the message on “Dangerous Faith”, and especially in light of facing such a huge transition of moving from the theater.

Faithful (North Point Live) – “Faithful/You Are Ever Faithful/You are ever Faithful to us God”…enough said!

-Jason’s Message-

Amazing Grace-My Chains Are Gone (Chris Tomlin) – I’ve said it a lot before, I love the old hymns! We do this song a little bit different than the Tomlin version. The basic structure is the same, we just add our own flair to it. Kind of like Drifter, our version has taken on a nice Southern Rock feel.

Broadcast (Fee) – Jason Franklin suggested this song a couple of months ago (thanks Jason!!), and we’ve done it several times now. Every time we do it it seems to get louder and louder. It is so awesome to me to hear people singing out such a declaration!

So, which of these is your favorite song?
