New Music?

I haven’t mentioned anything about music here in a while (except for the Sunday Breakdowns), so I figured it was time for a post about Music.

Music Sites – I’ve found a couple of new sites I am loving right now and here’s why…

-Amazon.com – I’ve been using amazon.com for a while now to download mp3’s. I still use iTunes occasionally, but primarily use amazon. Until recently, iTunes music was very restricted once you downloaded it. You could only play it on a select number of external audio players and emailing files was next to impossible. With me being between offices so much, I needed to be able to send music back and forth and play the music wherever I was, no matter what iPod or computer I had. So, enter amazon.com. All of their music is complete protection free. Once you buy the song, it is YOURS. You can do whatever you want to with it, email it to yourself, play it on multiple devices, play it on multiple computers, etc. Another plus, amazon.com always has great deals on great music! For example, I got “The 99 Most Essential Beethoven Masterpieces” for $1.99. I also got John Coltrane’s “The Ultimate Blue Train” (the whole album) for $1.99. Can’t beat those deals with a stick!

-Lala.com – This is probably one of FAVORITE sites right now. Once you sign up (which is free), you can listen to any song or album you want to 1 time for free! As much time as I spend researching and trying to find new music, this is huge for me. I can’t stand just being able to hear a 30 second sample on iTunes, with Lala, I can listen to the whole song! Great resource to get your fix on certain groups or albums without having to buy them as well. Just the other day, I was jamming to some old school Stryper, without having to go out and buy it!

-Pandora.com – This site is just absolute GENIUS! Search for any artist, song, or genre and pandora will create a “station” for you based on similarities to the selected artist, song, or genre.

Bands I am digging right now – These are some of things I’ve been spending a lot time listening to lately.

-John Coltrane – See above. It has been so nice to be able to relax and get a lot of work done while listening to some SMOOTH jazz.

-Alter Bridge – About as different from jazz as you could get. These are all the guys from Creed, minus the frontman Scott Stapp. Creed was good, but I like Alter Bridge better. Very hard rock, definitely something good to get you pumped up with!

-Led Zeppelin – I just can’t seem to get enough of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant right now. I’ve been loving me some “Ramble On” and “Kashmir”.

-Allison Krauss/Robert Plant duo project – Told you I couldn’t get enough of him. This project is absolutely wonderful. It is one of my favorite stations on pandora.com. To me, this is a duo you would never ever think to put together, but man it just works! If you haven’t heard it…check it out!

What are you singing along to right now?
