Sunday Breakdown 3.22.09

This Sunday was the final week of our “Wedding” series. The message was on “The Reception” which was all about Life Groups. All around, it was such a neat week. We started the service with a baptism, God bless Allie Hurley, I am sure the water was COLD. Being a portable church, we’re limited…so we do our baptisms in a cattle trough in the parking lot of the movie theater!

After the baptism, everyone filed into the theater to begin our Gathering. Because of the baptism at the front end of the gathering and the reception in the lobby at the end, we cut our normal intro song and went straight into the worship set.

Musically, I thought the band was VERY tight this week. That’s saying a lot, since we’ve not been able to rehearse in about 4 weeks! Thankfully, we’re back to our normal rehearsal schedule this week.

Technically, there are still some issues to be resolved with our computers and presentation areas…but, they’re getting there.

Well, here’s our set…

God Is With Us (Michael Olson) – I love the original version of this tune, but we always drop it several steps. Michael Olson is a beast and has a very high range…definitely higher than me! I love the hard breaks as we go into the chorus of this song. If you haven’t heard it, you need to check it out!

Song Of Hope (Robbie Seay Band) – Always fun to do this song. In all of the 75 plus songs we’ve done over the past year at Life Church, this is the only song where I have to use my falsetto. It’s definitely a fun song to sing!

Faithful (Alex Nifong) – It’s always neat to me to use this song as a transition into the message. The song starts out a bit faster and stays up through most of the song. However, it works out well to slow it down and go out of the song acoustically to set the tone.

-Jason’s Message-

How Great Is Our God (Chris Tomlin) – An oldie but a goodie. It’s amazing to me how quickly songs come and go in the worship music world. This one had its peak a couple of years ago, but its still got legs on it and is still relevant, especially to where we were this week!

Broadcast (Fee) – We introduced this song a couple of weeks ago so Sunday was our 2nd time doing it. The first week we did it, I thought it went ok. This week, I thought it went a TON better. We hit all the breaks and changes just right…a lot more smooth!

If you were there, what was your favorite song? (If you’re reading this, you need to leave a comment-especially if you’re in my Life Group!haha)

Josh

btw – our reception was after the gathering…we had a blast! I’ll fill you in more about it later!
