UNSTOPPABLE!

This week, we continued our “Unstoppable” series by talking about “Unstoppable Partners”. What a great morning, we had at least 6 people make professions of faith in Jesus Christ! That means, since May, we have had over 40 people make decisions for Christ. 40, FORTY, can you believe it? Our God is so awesome!

Well, here was our set list…

We Stand (Lee McDerment)

Rise and Sing (Fee)

Song of Hope (Robbie Seay Band)

Your Love (Chrystina L. Fincher)

–Jason’s Message–

For Your Glory (Lee McDerment)

Broadcast (Fee)

Alright…we’re going old school. What’s your favorite Old School Worship song?

My Favorite Catalyst Moment

•October 22, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I think it’s pretty safe to say that this was probably the favorite Catalyst moment for A LOT of people. The whole conference was absolutely incredible, but the power of this moment rose above all else and truly pierced straight to the heart.

Mandy and I have been sponsoring a child through Compassion since before we were even married. Belinda Villanveva is our little girl from Peru. I hate to say though, other than sending in our $$$ every month, we’ve slipped up over the years in keeping in contact with Belinda. After experiencing this moment at Catalyst, I honestly think we’ll be working on doing a better job from here forward!

This is kind of a long video, but PLEASE stay with it…Jimmy (the child who was sponsored) begins sharing at about the 3:45 mark.

If you’re interested in sponsoring a child, you can click HERE.

Where are you going to serve?

This past Sunday Jason shared the story of Jesus’ first miracle, taking the water at the wedding feast and turning it into wine. The servants (who were the only ones who got to see the miracle of Jesus!) had to grab their buckets and fill up the large cisterns of water for the miracle to be done. So, are YOU ready to pick up a bucket and haul some water so that God can do miracles in and through Life Church?

Be there THIS Saturday, October 24 at 9:00 (8:15 if you want a FREE breakfast) to learn about area where you can serve and then HOW to serve in those areas! It’s gonna be a great day and HUGE step forward for Life Church. Buckle up guys, we’re about to take off and Dominate Rome for the Kingdom of God!

Join the Revolution!

“No Show Sunday”

We got the idea for this from Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC. This week, we “did church” stripped down to the BARE essentials, we utilized ZERO volunteers except for the in the children’s areas. There were no greeters, no coffee, no parking team, etc. From a production standpoint, we didn’t use any of our sound equipment, video equipment, or lights. On stage, we had one guitar amp with my acoustic guitar and a mic plugged in. This was the first time in a long time I had led solo with just my guitar. In some ways, it was nice and refreshing, but at the same time…I missed the band!

So, here was the set list…and remember everything was just me ad my guitar.

Salvation Is Here (Hillsong)

God Is With Us (Michael Olson)

Glory To God Forever (Fee)

Let Me Sing (Todd Fields)

–Jason’s Message (John 2:1-11)–

Hearts of Servants (Shane Barnard)

Sing, Sing, Sing (Chris Tomlin)

If you were there, what was your favorite part of the morning? If not, what do you think about this?

We are unstoppable!

We started a new series this week called “Unstoppable”. This is going to be a GREAT series as we begin to really organize our efforts for reaching the city of Rome for the glory of God!

From a worship/programming standpoint, we had an awesome week! This was our set list…

Uncontainable (Lee McDerment) – I love this song, it’s a fun song to lead too. It really pushes me at the upper end of my vocal range so it’s fun to get to really belt it out. Not to mention, it has a GREAT message that tied in really well with the opening of our new series!

Rise and Sing (Fee) – This is a brand new song off of Fee’s brand new album, “Hope Rising”. The whole album is incredible, but as soon as I heard this track, I knew we had to do it ASAP at Life. I had been planning on doing this song since I bought the album last Tuesday and then I went to Catalyst and heard Fee do this song live several times and got even more excited! If you haven’t heard this song, stop reading this now, click on the link and listen, NOW!

All Because of Jesus (Fee) – In contrast, this is an older song of Fee’s, but it is a classic in my books!

Mighty To Save (Hillsong) – I was unsure how it was going to making such a transition between “All Because of Jesus” and this song because of the tempo differences, but it went really well with the transitions we planned. Such a great song to lead in to Jason talking about our vision!

-Jason’s message-

God Of This City (Chris Tomlin version) – After talking about our vision, it was so powerful to be able to sing about God being the God of OUR city, the God of Rome, GA.

Uncontainable (Lee McDerment) – Yep, we sandwiched the service with this song because of the “Unstoppable” tie-ins. GREAT SONG!

That was ours…if you go to Life Church, what was your favorite song, if you don’t go to Life Church what was the favorite song you sang at your church?

This week at Life Church was “Porn Sunday”. The statistics on the porn industry are staggering, yet so many churches don’t acknowledge or address the fact that so many of their people are being held hostage to such an ugly, disgusting captor! That’s why we partnered with xxxchurch.com to “Confront the Elephant in the Pew”. Our Sunday looked a little different because of it, but most of the elements were the same.

Instead of Jason preaching this week, we showed a video produced by xxxchurch.com, POWERFUL! We did our normal worship sets, but also had time for people to respond and seek prayer about the issues at hand.

So, here was our set list…

Dirty Little Secret (The All American Rejects)

We Stand (Lee McDerment)

Glory to God Forever (Fee)

From The Inside Out (Hillsong)

-video message-

Perfect People (Natalie Grant)

Marvelous Light (Charlie Hall)

So…if you could only pick 2 songs to listen to for the next year, what would they be?

“Go on take the money and run!”

We wrapped up “F Words” this week by talking about “Finances”. What a challenging message from Jason about needing to have our 3 plans in place! We need our spending plan, our saving plan, and our giving plan!

From a music/programming standpoint, it turned out to be a great morning! Things were a little hairy right up until time for the service to start, but once we got going, things went really well! It was sooo good to have Matt Conway back with us. It’s amazing the energy he brings to the stage and how contagious his worship is!

Well, here’s our set list…

Take the Money and Run (Steve Miller Band) – We try to do cover tunes to help emphasize our the message as much as possible and when I found out we were doing a message on Finances, I knew we had to do this song. As it got closer, I started re-considering my options, but couldn’t get away from this song! I REALLY enjoyed playing and singing this song. If I don’t say so myself, I think we did a bang-up job on it!

Our God Is Love (Lee McDerment) – I love this song, but I think we may retire it for a while. It just doesn’t seem to flow as well with Life Church for some reason. I’m sure we’ll pull it out some more, but not right now.

Blessed Be Your Name (Matt Redman) – This is a bit of an older song, been around for a while, but totally appropriate for the message. It is such a GREAT song, to be honest, I had forgotten how powerful it could be!

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus Medley (Third Day-bootleg version) – Sorry this song isn’t linked. I can’t find an online version of this medley anywhere. It’s from an old bootleg recording of Third Day I have. Basically it’s the old song “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”, but then it goes into part of the Elvis/UB40 song, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You”, and then goes into the U2 song, “With Or Without You”, before going back into “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. I’ll try to get a video of it up soon.

-Jason’s Message-

You Are God Alone (Billy & Cindy Foote) – Another perfect song for this message. “You’re the only God who’s worthy of everything we can give/You are God, that’s just the way it is.”

Alive and Running (Kristian Stanfill) – I LOVE THIS SONG! This is such a fun song to lead! You need to definitely download this song, and actually get the whole album!

I loved this set!

Alright, question of the week, what is your favorite Steve Miller Band song?

Wow! What a day!

Sunday was week 2 of our “F Words” series and our word for the week was “Family”. It’s an issue for everybody in some way or another and it’s something we can VERY easily take for granted without even recognizing it! For the message, Jason did an interview with a special guest who had a powerful story to tell about missing priorities and paying the price! At the end of the day, it makes you want to hug the wife and kids a little tighter and hold them a little longer! Lord, may I NEVER take the family you’ve given me for granted, they truly are a GIFT from you!!!

Well, here was our set list…

We Won’t Be Quiet (David Crowder) – This is such a simple song, 1 verse, 1 chorus, but man is it fun! It’s always a great upbeat, energy filled song to open or close the service with.

Everything (Chris Tomlin) – We’ve done this song for a while now, but we don’t do it too often. I love it when we pull it back out. It’s a super fun song to play ad lead, plus the church seems to really enjoy worshipping with this tune.

Song of Hope (Robbie Seay Band) – By far, one of my favorite worship tunes right now, as well as being Mandy’s favorite.

From The Inside Out (Hillsong) – This song has definitely made it into my top 5 worship songs. The line, “the art of losing myself in bringing you praise” gets me EVERY time!

–Message–

One Pure and Holy Passion (Passion) – We’ve only done this song a couple of times before, but based on the message and the tone created by the interview it worked out to be the perfect song for our response time. As always, Amy did a GREAT job leading this song!

We Won’t Be Quiet (David Crowder) – We had originally planned to do a different song to close the service, but Ben (our regular Bass player) woke up feeling horrible (dry sockets from having wisdom teeth taken out) so we had to move some folks around and make some last minute changes. God has truly blessed us though, we’ve got some GREAT musician who can make changes on the fly and never miss a beat!

Talk to me! Of the songs we sang Sunday, which one is your favorite?
